Identifying and Articulating Transferable Skills in Applications for Career Changers
March 2, 2019 I 3:00 – 4:00 PM; March 19, 2019 I 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Learning to articulate skills developed in all areas of experience for targeted application
materials can be challenging. In this program, participants will identify skills and career
competencies that employers seek in qualified applicants to leverage as part of a focused, goal-oriented job/internship search. Self-directed resources and tools will be reviewed to assist participants log their strongest transferable skills for careers of interest and strategies for
presenting those skills to employers of interest.
Career Planning & Development Center Overview

During this 30 minute overview session, participants will learn how the Career Planning &
Development Center staff assist students explore and define their personal career goals while developing the skills and confidence necessary to succeed. A review of the CPDC individual appointment topics, resources, and events will be covered.
Make Connections with Handshake

Handshake is Webster University’s online career management and recruiting platform with jobs and internships, events, career fairs, and more. Learn how to manage multiple aspects of your job or internship search process with Handshake during this 30 minute overview.
Resume Writing Boot Camp
March 6, 2019 I 1:00 – 2:00 PM; March 21, 2019 I 1:00 – 2:00 PM
In this resume writing overview session, participants will review the standards for preparing a customized resume. Topics include formatting recommendations, required and optional content sections, and tips for developing a targeted application during this 1 hour session. Particpants will also receive a review of their resume by a staff member from the Career Planning & Development Center.
Getting the Most out of your Spring Break
March 7, 2019 I 1:00 – 1:30 PM
Over an extended break, students have the opportunity to re-charge, reflect on their goals, and prepare for what comes next. During this 30 minute session, participants will receive tips to maximize their time over an extended break such as exploring the world of work through
informational interviewing, developing/updating their digital profiles (LinkedIn, Handshake, etc.), and goal setting for Summer 2019.
Internship & Job Search Strategies
March 25, 2019 I 1:00 – 2:00 PM; March 27, 2019 I 1:00 – 2:00 PM
During this 1 hour session, participants will review best practices for approaching a targeted internship or job search.
