My name is Carolyn I. Brown and I am the Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center. I also teach in the School of Education, for First Year Experience, and graduate courses online. I have a Ph.D. in Education (Teaching and Learning Processes) and an M.A. in Composition Rhetoric and Pedagogy, both from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I have worked at Webster for four years and the time has gone by really fast!
I work with Webster online students mainly through the ARC’s Online Writing Center where students can submit their papers for feedback and advice for improvement. We encourage all students who are online to use our services. It’s a great way for you to learn from the writing process.
The most satisfying part of my job is being able to work with so many diverse populations of students. Helping students improve their writing and understand academic integrity is also a great source of satisfaction for me. This is my 26th year teaching in higher education and I still enjoy it as much today as I did when I started.
My advice for all students is to ask for help when you need it. We are truly here to help you and make your college experience one of growth and success. No question is too silly, no academic or personal issue is too insignificant. That is why we are here!
